Tonsillectomy...
July 23, 2012 (Monday 12:00pm): It was an hour before my scheduled surgery.. I was a nervous wreck.. My anesthesiologist visited me to tell me the details.. How the anesthesia will be introduced to my body.. thru IV and thru the esophagus (ouch)... and then the time came.. i was wheeled down to the 3rd or 4th floor where the OR was.. I was only wearing a hospital gown.. nothing underneath so it was cold.. which added to my discomfort.. i was transferred to an opearting bed with big straps going across your body ( reminded me a lot of 50 Shades.. lol).. I was given my first dose of sleeping drug.. I got a bit chatty.. lol.. I was chatting with the circulating nurse until i can't remember anything anymore.. Then 4 hours and 30 mins later it was all done.. my mouth was sore.. i was so groggy... i was going in and out of sleep..
July 24 2012 (Tuesday): The pain wasn't half as bad as i thought (based on the comments from the forums I have read). Maybe because i had the best doctor and anesthesiologist (PF is unbelievable..lol). I was only allowed to eat vanilla ice cream specifically.. because dark foods may be mistaken for blood.. It was difficult to swallow.. It was painful but tolerable.. So I can only eat a few spoonfuls.. and I only eat when I'm about to take my meds.. I went home from the hospital that afternoon..
July 24, 2012 (Wednesday): The major problem I had today was the coughing.. It was excruciating.. I was in tears whenever I cough.. and my throat was itchy.. so I was barking like a dog.. which was restrained due to the pain I was feeling everytime I cough.. bad day..
July 25, 2012 (Thursday): Went out today to buy more meds and ice cream.. I was still coughing.. which left a radiating pain in my throat and ears.. sigh!!this part I hate.. My daughter made pizza today at Pizza Hut.. which is part of their curriculum in school.. I can't resist eating the pizza she made.. so i tried chewing the soft bread part.. i almost consumed the whole pizza.. ahaha.. i don't know if it's allowed but it just tastes so good.. lol.. ok back to coughing again.. hello to pain...
